Consultation on School Catchment Area Changes relating to Brockhurst Primary School, Elson Infant School and Elson Junior School

Closed on

This consultation will take place between Monday 9 September and Friday 4 October 2024.

Hampshire County Council is reviewing the school catchment areas for Brockhurst Primary School, Elson Infant School and Elson Junior School and proposing a section becomes a shared catchment area between them.

This change is being proposed to ensure the schools in the local area continue to have capacity to meet forecast demand from existing housing in the vicinity of the schools. It will support the provision of available school places for local children and support local schools to admit enough children for them to remain viable and maintain current levels of provision.

This proposal, if approved, would make the area shown on the proposed catchment area map a shared catchment area between Brockhurst Primary School, Elson Infant School and Elson Junior School from September 2026.

It is therefore proposed that the School Catchment Area Changes will be implemented for school admissions from September 2026 onwards.

Any comments on these proposals should be sent to Amanda Vaughan, Strategic Development Officer, Children’s Services Department, Hampshire County Council, Elizabeth II Court North, The Castle, Winchester, SO23 8UG or by email to [email protected] no later than 4 October 2024.

Any comments received will be considered as part of the statutory consultation on the admissions arrangements which takes place for 6 weeks in November and December 2024. A final decision which takes account of the statutory admissions consultation will be made by the Executive Member for Education on 12 February 2025. Details of the statutory admissions process can be viewed via the web link provided once the consultation has gone live.
