Household waste reuse in Hampshire

Between November 2024 and January 2025 Hampshire County Council held a survey about the impacts of fly-tipping on private land. It received 1,798 responses.

The survey asked about the things people dispose of, and whether they reuse items by repairing, renting, borrowing, or buying second hand. It compared results with those from a survey in 2023.

Respondents told us that they had not significantly changed most of their behaviours since 2023, with the use of reusable bags and drinkware high amongst all groups. We also learned that most respondents, especially those in urban areas, were unaware of how to find a repair café in their area.

The results of the survey can be found in the data report, and will inform the Council’s approach to fly-tipping and how it supports landowners and communities dealing with the matter.
