Consultation on school catchment area changes relating to The Henry Cort Community College, Brookfield Community School, Sarisbury Infant School, Sarisbury CE Junior School and Whiteley Primary School
Closed on
This consultation will run between Monday 2 June and Monday 30 June 2025.
Hampshire County Council is reviewing and consulting upon the school catchment areas of The Henry Cort Community College, Brookfield Community School, Sarisbury Infant School, Sarisbury CE Junior School and Whiteley Primary School following the decision to relocate The Henry Cort Community College to the new site at North Whiteley from September 2027, and ahead of the construction of a housing development that will be sited opposite Cornerstone CE Primary School.
The catchment change proposals have been developed alongside the headteachers at Fareham Academy, Cams Hill School and Cornerstone CE Primary School, who are their own admission authorities.
The Headteachers of The Henry Cort Community College, Brookfield Community School, Whiteley Primary School, Orchard Lea Junior School, St Columba CE Primary School, Titchfield Primary School, Sarisbury Infant School and Sarisbury CE Junior School have also been engaged as part of these proposals.
Maps showing the current and proposed catchment areas are linked below:
Current catchment area – Orchard Lea Infant School, Orchard Lea Junior School, Titchfield Primary School, St Columba CE Primary School, The Henry Cort Community College, Fareham Academy and Cams Hill School
Proposed catchment area - Orchard Lea Infant School, Orchard Lea Junior School, Titchfield Primary School, St Columba CE Primary School, The Henry Cort Community College, Fareham Academy and Cams Hill School
Current catchment area – Sarisbury Infant School, Sarisbury CE Junior School, Whiteley Primary School, The Henry Cort Community College and Brookfield Community School
Proposed catchment area - Sarisbury Infant School, Sarisbury CE Junior School, Whiteley Primary School, The Henry Cort Community College and Brookfield Community School
The proposal is to create a consistent, shared catchment area for Cornerstone CE Primary School and Whiteley Primary School. Once relocated, The Henry Cort Community College will have its own catchment covering the Whiteley area for secondary aged pupils.
As they are their own admission authorities, Cams Hill School, Fareham Academy and Cornerstone CE Primary School will be required to run their own consultation. This will be available on each school's website once live.
Admissions arrangements
This proposal, if approved, removes the housing and land shown on the map from the catchment area of The Henry Cort Community College, Brookfield Community School, Sarisbury Infant School and Sarisbury CE Junior School from September 2027, and includes the small portion of land opposite Cornerstone CE Primary in the catchment area of Whiteley Primary School
For families in the affected areas with children already on roll at The Henry Cort Community College, Brookfield Community School, Sarisbury Infant School and Sarisbury CE Junior School, the following transitional arrangements will be put in place:
Out-catchment children starting secondary school for the first time, living in the parts of Fareham which were previously in the catchment area for The Henry Cort Community College before it changed in September 2027, and have a sibling on roll at The Henry Cort Community College (who was on roll and living at the same address prior to the catchment change and will still be on roll at the time of the other child’s admission), will be given catchment, sibling priority at The Henry Cort Community College, for up to and including admission in September 2030.
Out-catchment children starting secondary school for the first time, living in the portion of land opposite Cornerstone CE Primary School which was previously in the catchment area for Brookfield School before it changed in September 2027, and have a sibling on roll at Brookfield Community School (who was on roll and living at the same address prior to the catchment change and will still be on roll at the time of the other child’s admission), will be given catchment, sibling priority at Brookfield Community School, for up to and including admission in September 2030.
Out-catchment children starting school for the first time, living in the portion of land opposite Cornerstone CE Primary School which was previously in the catchment area for Sarisbury Infant School before it changed in September 2027, and have a sibling on roll at Sarisbury Infant School or Sarisbury CE Junior School (who was on roll and living at the same address prior to the catchment change and will still be on roll at the time of the other child’s admission), will be given catchment, sibling priority for Sarisbury Infant School, for up to and including admission in September 2030.
Out-catchment children starting junior school for the first time, living in the portion of land opposite Cornerstone CE Primary School which was previously in the catchment area for Sarisbury CE Junior School before it changed in September 2027, and have a sibling on roll at Sarisbury Infant School or Sarisbury CE Junior School (who was on roll and living at the same address prior to the catchment change and will still be on roll at the time of the other child’s admission), will be given catchment, sibling priority for Sarisbury CE Junior School, for up to and including admission in September 2030.
It is therefore proposed that the catchment boundaries be redrawn for school admissions from September 2027 onwards.
