Consultation on proposed changes to Home to School Transport, including a change to policy

Closed on

The consultation was open from 31 January 2022 and closed at midnight on 27 March 2022. This consultation has now closed and responses received at this point will not be included in the findings report.

Hampshire County Council sought residents’ and stakeholders’ views on proposed changes to the delivery of Home to School Transport Services for children and young people, including those with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).

These proposed changes would increase the use of safe, co-ordinated pick-up and drop-off points for school transport services. In addition, journeys would more commonly serve multiple schools and colleges and age groups, including journeys that would serve both mainstream and special schools and colleges.

More details on the proposed changes can be found in the consultation Information Pack. There is also an Easy Read version of the Information Pack.

The Council is required by law to consult on any changes to its Home to School Transport policies. Post-16 Transport policy is consulted on annually through a separate process and is not covered by this consultation.

Any changes would affect new applications for transport from September 2022, and would affect existing arrangements in the future.

The findings from this consultation will be published and presented to the Executive Lead Member for Children's Services and Young People later in 2022. Feedback will help to inform any decision by the County Council on the proposed changes to the Home to School Transport policy and how transport assistance is delivered.
