Consultation on School Catchment Area Changes for The Toynbee School and Thornden School
Closed on
This consultation takes place between Monday 3 June and 11:59pm Monday 1 July 2024.
Hampshire County Council is consulting upon the school catchment areas of the schools listed above to align them with the catchment arrangements for Thornden School which is part of the HISP Multi Academy Trust (Hampshire, Isle of Wight, Southampton and Portsmouth). Discussions have taken place with the schools about the proposed changes to the catchment areas and they are in support.
The proposed catchment change will impact 72 addresses. All affected properties have received notification of this proposal via post.
Consultation on admissions priority for children living in the above identified area of Brownhill Road, Eastleigh
Currently, some of Brownhill Road sits within the catchment area for The Toynbee School and some within Thornden School. The proposal is that the affected houses would become part of the catchment area for Thornden School.
Maps showing the current and proposed catchment areas are linked below:

Admissions arrangements
This proposal, if approved, removes the housing shown on the map from the catchment of The Toynbee School. The housing is already in the catchment of Thornden School which is part of the HISP multi academy trust, and so from September 2026, the housing will be solely in the catchment area of Thornden School.
For families in the affected area with children already in The Toynbee School the following transitional arrangement will be put in place:
- Children starting secondary school for the first time who have a sibling on roll at The Toynbee School (who was on roll prior to the catchment change and who will still be attending the school at the time of the younger child’s admission), will be given catchment priority for The Toynbee School, for up to and including admission in September 2029.
It is therefore proposed that the catchment boundaries be redrawn for school admissions from September 2026 onwards.
