Petition - Cupernham Lane Crossing
Response from Hampshire County Council, August 2024
Thank you for submitting the recent petition in which you request a puffin crossing over Cupernham Lane near the Mercer Way/Woodley Lane junctions.
Mercer Way and Woodley Lane are identified as a future cycle route in the Test valley South Local Cycling and Walking Infrastructure Plan and the need for a safe crossing of Cupernham Lane to link these two streets is highlighted. While the focus of this route is on cycling, as we develop plans for the route the needs of people walking will also be carefully considered and this is particularly the case at crossing points
The County Council is currently working to identify resources to deliver this route and, as development work moves forward, we will incorporate investigation of an improved pedestrian crossing at the location you have identified. Safe access to local schools is one of our key priorities when improving routes for walking and cycling. Unfortunately, at this stage we are unable to identify a timescale for delivery of any changes at this location.
Thank you for the opportunity to comment; I hope this information is of interest.
Yours sincerely
