Petition - A safer crossing place at Braishfield Road between Abbotswood and Braishfield Road roundabouts

Thank you for your email and petition dated 14 September 2022.

Uncontrolled crossing points are in place on Braishfield Road at the following locations:

• North of the roundabout junction with Freemantle Road
• Near Walnut Close
• South of the roundabout junction with Jermyns Lane.

With little additional highway space outside of the existing footway/cycleway and carriageway, the presence of overhead utilities and frequent private accesses as well as junctions, there are limited opportunities for additional footway and crossing points on the eastern side of Braishfield Road. I note the comments regarding the crossing point south of the Jermyns Lane junction and will ask the local Highways team to arrange for the vegetation to be cut back to improve visibility between drivers and pedestrians.
