Petition - Speeding in Sidney Martin Road

Response from Hampshire County Council, February 2020

Thank you for your letter of 23 January 2020 regarding Sidney Martin Road.

Sidney Martin Road remains private and under the control of the developer and the development has been built in accordance with the approved planning permission, 55369/005. Hampshire County Council is working with the developer to adopt Sidney Martin Road as public highway, although at this time I cannot provide timescales for the completion of this. There are currently no plans to implement traffic measures along Sidney Martin Road in the future, although the County Council’s Safer Roads service will monitor the road as part of the wider Hampshire road network.

You may be aware that the 30mph speed limit in Station Road has recently been extended from a point immediately west of the Camp Road/Farnham Road junction to a point immediately east of the new relief road. In addition to the 30mph speed limit extension, the wider development of the Bordon Garrison site will result in a change in appearance and the nature of the area and of Station Road which may alter vehicular speeds and vehicular distribution on the local road network.

I will keep your note on file for future reference.

Yours sincerely
