Petition - Swanwick Lane traffic management
Response from Hampshire County Council, March 2019
I am writing to you following on from the petition that was received on the 11 February 2019, regarding the traffic island that is located within the vicinity of your home along Swanwick Lane.
Having considered the petition it is the view of Hampshire County Council that the traffic island close to your home contributes to the wider traffic calming measures along Swanwick Lane and it would therefore not be feasible to remove it. You may recall, after previous discussion with you, that it was determined there are no other suitable locations for the traffic island to be relocated.
Hampshire County Council periodically monitors highway improvements. Given the traffic calming scheme in Swanwick Lane has been in place for some time, further surveys will be programmed to assess the effectiveness of the scheme as a whole.
In previous correspondence with you during August 2018, the County Council offered to help facilitate driveway works by extending the dropped kerb width if you wish to widen your driveway. This would potentially make it easier to access your property. This offer is still open and the County Council would be happy to help in this way.
