Services for Young Children are collecting personal data to register your interest in becoming a childminder and facilitate you attending the Becoming a Registered Childminder in Hampshire briefing session. In order to do this Hampshire County Council will ask that you complete a form in which you will need to provide your name, contact details and location.

We collect and use the information ensuring that we comply with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UKGDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018 (DPA2018) requirements for processing through Article 6(1)(e) of the UKGDPR where processing is necessary for the performance of a task carried out in the public interest or in the exercise of official authority vested in the controller. This public task is supported by Section 6 of the Childcare Act 2006.

All information collected from the forms will be held within the County Council’s Document Management Systems (DMS) and will be kept in line with our retention schedule and then deleted as appropriate. The County Council’s DMS is hosted by the County Council in secure UK based data centres, which are on site. No information leaves the European Economic Area (EEA).

Under data protection legislation, you have the right to:

  • request access to your records
  • prevent processing for the purpose of direct marketing
  • object to decisions being taken by solely automated means
  • in certain circumstances, have inaccurate personal data rectified, blocked, erased or destroyed
  • claim compensation for damages caused by a breach of the Data Protection regulations.
