When journalists provide Hampshire County Council with information as part of a media enquiry, the Authority holds this information for the purposes of responding to those journalists’ enquiries.
We will use the information for understanding a journalist’s enquiry in detail, in order to provide the news media with accurate responses to their questions. The legal basis for our use of this information is public task.
Where special category data is provided by journalists, this is processed on the basis of substantial public interest and the statutory purposes condition.
We may share this information with our third party processor, in order to process the enquiry and respond to it in a timely way.
We will keep any information provided to us by journalists for seven years.
