Tucked away in the beautiful rolling chalk hills of the Test Valley, Gambledown Farm is a flourishing rural retreat that blends sustainable farming with luxury accommodation and wellness experiences.

Located just a few miles from the historic market town of Romsey, the 270-acre farm has become a haven for those seeking a slower pace of life, offering everything from glamping and converted barn stays to yoga retreats and wood-fired pizza nights. At its core is a commitment to regenerative agriculture – a farming approach that nurtures soil health, biodiversity and local food production.

Tamara and Richard Arnison-Newgass, the husband-and-wife team behind the farm, envisioned a business that would harmonise nature and hospitality. Their goal was to create a space where guests could reconnect with the land while enjoying high-quality, memorable experiences. But like many small business owners, Tamara recognised the need for ongoing learning and support to help the business evolve and grow.

That’s where the Hampshire Growth Hub came in. Tamara first contacted us after learning about our free business support and workshops.

“As a small business owner, I’m always seeking to learn new skills, update my knowledge and meet other business owners,” she explained.

With Senior Growth Champion Andy Swift, Tamara received tailored one-to-one support and was signposted to expert marketing advice that helped her clarify her goals and refine her strategy.

“Andy has been extremely supportive in our one-to-one sessions. He allocated me some time with a very helpful and experienced marketing consultant,” said Tamara. “I was able to ask her specific marketing questions and discuss my goals for marketing my business.” “Andy continues to be very helpful – we still have a Zoom meeting every couple of months,” she added.

Tamara also took part in two key training programmes: a leadership course and a four-month Skills for Business course. “Both these courses helped expand my knowledge and network – and they were great fun too,” she said.

The results have been tangible. With a clearer marketing direction, stronger leadership skills, and a growing network of peers, Tamara has been able to set more focused goals and grow her business with confidence.

“The skills I’ve learnt have helped me grow my expertise and, in turn, my business – through clear goal setting and meeting other small business owners,” she explained.

Today, Gambledown Farm continues to thrive, hosting seasonal events including supper clubs and cookery demonstrations, all designed to bring people together in a relaxed and inspiring setting.

“My experience with the Hampshire Growth Hub has been extremely positive,” Tamara said. “I’d absolutely encourage other small business owners to take advantage of the support available.”

Chris Burchell, who leads the Hampshire Growth Hub, said: “It’s fantastic to see how Tamara and Richard and their team at Gambledown Farm have embraced the support available and used it to grow with purpose. Their commitment to sustainability, innovation and community is exactly what we love to champion. We’re proud to have played a small part in their journey and look forward to seeing what they do next.”
