TRAFFIC ORDER PROPOSALS – AMENDMENTS TO PICK-UP, DROP-OFF AND PARKING RESTRICTIONS FOR THE GOSPORT INTERCHANGE TAXI RANK

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Hampshire County Council (“the Council”) proposes to make an Order, in exercise of its powers and duties under 1, 2, 3, 4, 32, 35, 39 and 122(1) and 122(2) of the Act, and of all other enabling powers, after consultation with the Chief Officer of Police in accordance with Part III of Schedule 9 to the Act and having discharged its duty under section 122 of the Act.

General nature and effects of the Order: Will be to resolve several anomalies in the Gosport Interchange Taxi Rank parking and waiting arrangements by imposing the following restrictions:

1.              Parking Places – Taxis Only

The west side of the road forming the Gosport Interchange taxi rank

2.              Hackney Carriages

Gosport Interchange taxi rank – both sides: between its junction with The Esplanade and its junction with the B3333 South Street for its entire length

3.         No Waiting at Any Time – The eastern area of road forming the taxi pick-up and drop-off point

(i)        East side – between its junction with The Esplanade and its junction with B3333 South Street for its entire length

(ii)       West side – between its junction with The Esplanade to its junction with B3333 South Street for its entire length

(iii)      All sides – the entire circumference of the central island

(iii)      Hampshire County Council Headquarters, The Castle, Winchester, SO23 8UJ (Opening hours: Mondays to Thursdays 8.30 – 17.15; Fridays 8.30 – 18.45)

OBJECTIONS AND OTHER REPRESENTATIONS: All objections/other representations in respect of this proposal must be made in writing to The Castle, Winchester, SO23 8UD or email [email protected] quoting reference: - [A2018d/MJB], by Friday 21^st June 2024. All objections must state the grounds on which they are made. Under the requirements of current access to information legislation, any statement you make to the Council in response to this Notice may be made available to the press and to the public, who would be entitled to take copies of it if they so wished.

TITLE: The order, if made, will be known as “The Hampshire (Gosport Interchange Taxi Rank) (Hackney Carriages) Order 2024.”
