SAXON WOOD SCHOOL, BASINGSTOKE – ADDING MODERATE LEARNING DIFFICULTIES (MLD) AND SEVERE LEARNING DIFFICULTIES (SLD) AS DESIGNATIONS
Saxon Wood School caters for children aged 2 - 11 years old with complex medical needs, physical difficulties and disabilities. It is proposed to add moderate learning difficulties (MLD) and serve learning difficulties (SLD) as designations to the school.

Amendment/disuse of church for worship or marriage from Hampshire County Council in Basingstoke and Deane East Hampshire Eastleigh Fareham Gosport Hart Havant Isle of Wight New Forest Outside of Hampshire Portsmouth Rushmoor Southampton Test Valley Winchester area
1. Notice is hereby given, in accordance with Section 19(1) of the Education and Inspections Act 2006, that Hampshire County Council intends to make a prescribed alteration to SAXON WOOD SCHOOL, Barron Place, Rooksdown, Basingstoke, Hampshire, RG24 9NH (category of school – Special) with effect from September 2025.
2. Saxon Wood School caters for children aged 2 - 11 years old with complex medical needs, physical difficulties and disabilities. By adding the extra specialist designations Saxon Wood School can continue to provide good quality school places for a wider range of pupils where they are needed. The proposal is to take effect from September 2025.
3. The agreed pupil number for Saxon Wood School is 44.8 and this will not be affected by the addition of moderate learning difficulties (MLD) and serve learning difficulties (SLD) as designations.
4. There are no capital costs related to adding the extra designations to Saxon Wood School.
