1. Notice is hereby given, in accordance with Section 19(1) of the Education and Inspections Act 2006, that Hampshire County Council intends to make a prescribed alteration to KNIGHTWOOD PRIMARY SCHOOL
Bell Flower Way, Knightwood Road, Chandler's Ford, Eastleigh, Hampshire, SO53 4HW (category of school – Community School) with effect from academic year 2027/28.
2. There are an increasing number of children in the Eastleigh area who are being diagnosed or on a pathway for a diagnosis of autism and this proposal will provide new specialist school places to support them to access a mainstream education.
3. The capacity of Knightwood Primary School is for 420 pupils with 371 pupils currently on roll. This proposal will create a provision to meet the needs of up to 12 primary aged pupils with autism which will open in phases from academic year 2027/28. This change will not affect the overall capacity of mainstream places at Knightwood Primary School.
4. The proposal is to remove an aging modular classroom and re-provide those spaces in a better location to provide the base for the Inclusion Base (Specialist) together with appropriate IT, furniture and a secure external play space.
5. The capital cost of this project will be known after a detailed feasibility and will be included the Children’s Services Capital Programme for approval by Executive Member in January 2027.
