School organisation from Hampshire County Council in Fareham area
1. Notice is hereby given, in accordance with Section 19(1) of the Education and Inspections Act 2006, that Hampshire County Council intends to make a prescribed alteration to THE HENRY CORT COMMUNITY COLLEGE Hillson Drive, Fareham, Hampshire, PO15 6PH (category of school – Community School) with effect from academic year 2027/28. From September 2027, The Henry Cort Community College will be located at Dapperling Road, North Whiteley, Hampshire and be known as Whiteley Secondary School.
2. There are an increasing number of children in the local area who are being diagnosed or on a pathway for a diagnosis of autism and this proposal will provide new specialist school places to support them to access a mainstream education.
3. The capacity of The Henry Cort Community College is for 870 pupils with 834 pupils currently on roll. This proposal will create a provision to meet the needs of up to 15 secondary aged pupils with autism which will open in phases from academic year 2027/28. This change will not affect the overall capacity of mainstream places at The Henry Cort Community College.
4. The additional spaces required for this new provision is included in the scope and design of the new school and provides separate areas, appropriate furniture, IT and a secure external space.
5. The capital cost of this project is included within the overall cost envelope for the build of the school.
