Support for Ukraine
Urgent call for landlords and homeowners
We urgently need landlords with vacant properties, or homeowners with spare rooms, to rent to Ukrainians. Comprehensive support is available for landlords (conditions apply), while homeowners can earn up to £7,500 rent annually tax-free. See further information.

If you need help
If the war in Ukraine is affecting you or your family directly, the GOV.UK website has published visa support information for family members of British nationals in Ukraine, and Ukrainian nationals in Ukraine and the UK. This includes details of the Ukraine Family Scheme which allows family members of British nationals, UK settled persons and certain others to come to or stay in the UK.
Beware of scams
Although you may receive legitimate requests for support from organisations you are familiar with, as always, please stay alert to possible scams and fraud.
Misinformation and disinformation
Sharing information is important for communities but misinformation and disinformation can be damaging. Before you share communications you receive – ask yourself:
- How does this make me feel?
- Why am I sharing this?
- How do I know if it's true?
- Where did it come from?
- Whose agenda might I be supporting by sharing it?
If you know something is false, or it makes you angry, do not be tempted to share, debunk or make fun of it. This spreads the misinformation or disinformation further.
You can pass anything you think is false to Full Fact, an independent fact checker.
You can find advice on how to spot fake information at Ukraine and beyond: How to fact check misleading videos.
Mental health and wellbeing
Concerns about the situation in Ukraine could affect your mental health or those close to you. If you or anyone you know would like help with this, you can find out about the support and advice available at Mental Wellbeing Hampshire or by visiting the NHS website Every Mind Matters, which offers practical tips to help you look after you mental health and wellbeing.
Helping your child understand the conflict
The Department for Education has issued guidance to schools and families about how to tackle the challenging questions that children and young people might ask about Ukraine. This has been provided to all headteachers across Hampshire: Help for teachers and families to talk to pupils about Russia’s invasion of Ukraine and how to help them avoid misinformation
