Introduction |

1.1 |
The Service currently uses Hampshire County Council's personnel and payroll systems. These are in the process of being replaced by the new 'SAP' system, the payroll aspects of which are scheduled to go live in September 2001, providing the results of testing/auditing currently underway are satisfactory. |
|
|
1.2 |
The new SAP system, is a modern, integrated package that provides financial, personnel and other resource control mechanisms in one database and has the potential to improve substantially the quality of management information. |
|
|
1.3 |
The Service has already adopted elements of the SAP financial package and are committed to implementing the Human Resource modules. |
|
|
2 |
Transitional Period |
|
|
2.1 |
Training for HFRS payroll staff on the new system cannot be carried out until after the implementation of the new system. Arrangements have therefore been made to make pay adjustments using a paper-based system for the interim period. |
|
|
2.2 |
It can be expected that some 'teething' problems will be experienced in the early stages of the implementation so contingency plans have been agreed with the SAP implementation team and the Treasurer to develop mechanisms to resolve any problems, especially those that relate to pay, as quickly as possible. |
|
|
2.3 |
The move to the new system may have short-term implications on the provision of some management and performance information. |
|
