AT A MEETING of REGULATORY COMMITTEE B held at The Castle, Winchester on Monday 1 October 2001.

1. APPOINTMENT OF CHAIRMAN
That Councillor E.F. Gale, MBE be appointed Chairman for this meeting only.
2. DEPUTATION
The Committee received a deputation from Mrs H. Burt, a parent of children attending both Mill Chase Community School, Bordon and the Holme C.E. Primary School, Headley, expressing concerns about the walking routes from Headley Down to both the schools (Minute No. 3 below refers).
3. SCHOOL TRANSPORT APPEAL - HEADLEY DOWN TO MILL CHASE COMMUNITY SCHOOL, BORDON AND THE HOLME C.E. PRIMARY SCHOOL, HEADLEY
The Committee considered a report of the County Surveyor (Item 3 in the Minute Book) concerning the walking routes from Headley Down to Mill Chase Community School, Bordon and the Holme C.E. Primary School, Headley.
The Committee also received supporting representations from Councillor W.J. Filer, MA as local Ward Member.
The Committee paid particular attention to safety factors along the routes inspected and expressed concerns about the narrow unlit roads, lack of pavements and stepping off points and poor visibility along certain stretches of the route.
Having carefully examined the routes and weighed the arguments, the Committee concluded that the routes from Headley Down to Mill Chase Community School, Bordon and the Holme C.E. Primary School, Headley were unavailable for children both unaccompanied and accompanied.
RESOLVED:
That the appeal be allowed.
