1. Summary
1.1 The following decision is sought:
That the text of the Passenger Transport Report 2001/02 be approved for publication, subject to minor editorial amendments.
2. Reason
2.1 To enable the Passenger Transport Report 2001/02 to proceed to publication.
3. Other Options Considered and Rejected
3.1 Not to publish this year was considered but it was felt important to disseminate the results of the Best Value review of Passenger Transport and the change in approach which will result from this.

7. Introduction
7.1 The Passenger Transport Report is produced on an annual basis to highlight the work of the County Council in support of public transport. It focuses on the achievements of the last 12 months and looks ahead to the activities to be undertaken during the coming year. It is a useful reference document for transport operators, district councils, parish councils, user groups and members of the public.
8. The 2001/02 Passenger Transport Report
8.1 The 2001/02 Report will cover the passenger transport Best Value review and its outcomes, the further development of quality partnerships, changes in the bus and rail industry, community transport initiatives, education transport, and developments in information and infrastructure provision.
8.2 It will be produced in the format introduced two years ago, which was well received. A summary leaflet will also be published.
8.3 Tenders were invited for the design and printing of the document. The lowest tender is from Hampshire Printing Services, in the sum of £5,478.
8.4 As in previous years, distribution will be to Members, district and parish councils, transport operators and other interested parties during January 2002. Comments will be invited from recipients.
