1. Summary

1.1 The following decision is sought:

    That the implementation programme for the A33 Basingstoke to Riseley corridor be approved.

2. Reason

2.1 Implementation of the A33 corridor strategy is a high priority within the Basingstoke Environmental Strategy for Transport. A range of measures has been proposed and was the subject of public consultation in July 2001. These measures include the introduction of traffic signal control at junctions, a new railway station at Chineham, extensive cycle measures and other schemes designed to meet the objectives of the strategy.

2.2 A report to the Basingstoke Environmental Strategy for Transport Members' Panel on 14 November 2001 recommended acceptance of the implementation programme (attached as an appendix).
