1. Summary
1.1 The following decision is sought:
That the investment programme for Intelligent Transport Systems for the Basingstoke Environmental Strategy for Transport area be approved.
2. Reason
2.1 The introduction of Intelligent Transport Systems offers considerable scope to improve traffic flows, create more reliable public transport and provide accurate and readily available travel information. A number of systems are proposed which will be implemented on a coordinated basis to help meet the overall objectives of the strategy.
2.2 A report to the Basingstoke Environmental Strategy for Transport Members' Panel on 14 November 2001 recommended acceptance of the investment programme (attached as an appendix).
3. Other Options Considered and Rejected - Not applicable.
