1. Summary
The following decision is sought:
1.1 That the Education Training Agency service should continue to be provided by Hampshire County Council and complete its integration into Hampshire Inspection Advisory Service (HIAS) to better support the changing needs of schools and the delivery of the Education Development Plan.
1.2 That the outcomes and detailed recommendations be endorsed, with the following areas to form the basis for improvement:
1.2.1 Raising the standard of training delivery on certain courses.
1.2.2 Improved communication with schools on the Education Department's
professional development and training strategy, the Education
Training Agency's role in that strategy and the rationale and the criteria
for the design and selection of the courses, in the annual programme of
training.
1.2.3 Better targeting of the course programme to the needs of schools.
2. Reason
To secure the provision of an efficient and effective training service to schools and its integration with the Hampshire Inspection and Advisory Service (HIAS).
The advice in 1 above was endorsed by the Education Policy Review Committee at its meeting on 20 December 2001.
3. Other options considered and rejected - taking no action.

6. Reasons for the matter being dealt with if urgent - not applicable.
