1. Summary
The following decision is sought:
1.1 That the service should continue to be administer governor appointments and maintain the County Council's governor database whilst seeking to improve standards wherever possible through the use of new technology and better processes.
1.2 That the service should seek to improve standards through the development of new partnerships to strengthen and widen the services on offer to Hampshire governors whilst allowing it the flexibility to respond to future market changes.
1.3 That the service should seek to improve the quality of clerking in Hampshire through the gradual expansion of the Local Education Authority clerking service and the raising of the professional status and the performance of all clerks across the county.
1.4 That the detailed outcomes and action plan be endorsed.
1.5 That governor services be congratulated on their achievement in being awarded a third consecutive Charter Mark
2. Reason
To secure the continued development of an effective and efficient range of services to school's governing bodies and to build on the quality accreditation conferred by the Charter Mark. The advice in 1 above was endorsed by the Education Policy Review Committee at its meeting on 20 December 2001.
