535 POLICE REFORM WHITE PAPER "POLICING A NEW CENTURY : A BLUEPRINT FOR REFORM"

The Authority met to consider its response to the Government's Police Reform White Paper "Policing a New Century : A Blueprint for Reform".

Following introductions by the Chairman, the Clerk, and the Chief Constable, Members considered in detail key issues arising out of the White Paper.

Following a lengthy debate, it was agreed that the Authority's comments be forwarded to the Association of Police Authorities and the Home Office accordingly.

A copy of the letter which summarises the key points agreed by the Authority is attached as an Appendix to the Minutes.
