QUEEN'S GOLDEN JUBILEE, 2002 - GOLDEN JUBILEE SCULPTURE
1. The Cabinet has sought submissions from sculptors based in Hampshire for a sculpture to commemorate the Queen's Golden Jubilee next year. The probable site will be in the area outside the Great Hall, although this has yet to be finalised. The Cabinet has indicated that the County Council wishes to commission a figurative, rather than abstract, work which, ideally, reflects both the fifty year reign of the Queen and also looks at the rich and varied history of Hampshire and its future.
2. An initial budget of £15,000 has been identified for this commission, although limited further funds may be available if the scale or materials of the proposed work so require.
3. Members will be kept informed of progress on this initiative.
