SOUTH EAST HAMPSHIRE - SCHOOL FOR PUPILS WITH EMOTIONAL AND BEHAVIOURAL DIFFICULTIES

1. It has for a long time been an aim of the former Education Committee to make more adequate provision for pupils with emotional and behavioural difficulties, who in South East Hampshire are currently housed in the Sundridge unit. The opportunity arises following the closure of the former Park House Primary School in Havant.

2. That building can be adapted to provide the necessary accommodation, and consultations have been held with staff, governors and parents of the Sundridge unit; and with the local community from the immediate area of Park House. There is general support for the proposal, and the Executive Member for Education has accordingly, in the light of advice to that effect from the Education Policy Review Committee, approved the development of the current Park House School site as a school for secondary aged pupils with emotional and behavioural difficulties. However, implementation will depend on the success of bids to secure capital funding.
