1. Summary

1.1 The following decision is sought:

That the Airtrack proposal be endorsed on behalf of the County Council.

2. Reason

2.1 On 13 February 2002 the North East Hampshire Area Transportation Strategy Panel considered a report (attached as an appendix) which invited the Executive Member for Environment to take decisions on matters approved by the Panel. This was on Rail Access to Heathrow Airport - Airtrack Project. The Panel supported the case for improved rail access to Heathrow Airport from the South West and commended the constituent authorities to offer support to the Airtrack Forum to assist in developing its technical studies and communication strategy with a view to securing approval by Central Government and industry. The Panel also resolved to invite the Executive Member for Environment to endorse the proposal on behalf of Hampshire County Council.
