ESTABLISHMENT OF A STANDARDS COMMITTEE

1. The Authority has appointed a Standards Committee. It is to comprise of seven members (including two independent members) with Councillor M.J. Woodhall as its Chairman and Councillor Mrs. P. West as its Vice-Chairman. The Committee has agreed its terms of reference and the Clerk has programmed four meetings into the calendar.

2. In association with the new Standards Committee, the Authority has also adopted a Model Code of Conduct for Members. As a result, arrangements will be made for every member to sign an appropriate declaration, together with a record of their interests. Training has been provided for elected members and is being organised for the independent members of the Standards Committee appointed by Hampshire Fire and Rescue Authority, the County Council and the Hampshire Police Authority. The training will include the role of the Standards Committee and the Monitoring Officer; and the role of the Standards Board for England.
