1. Summary

1.1 The following decisions are sought:

That approval be given to the attached design project appraisal for the provision of a new Early Years Centre including a 90 place day care nursery, community centre, crèche, information centre, toy library, training, interview, health and administration facilities, along with an additional classroom at Warren Park Primary School.

1.2 That approval be given to the negotiation of this contract with Brazier Construction.

2. Reason(s)

2.1 To provide a new Early Years Centre within the Warren Park ward following a grant of a Sure Start Project by the Government and the provision of an additional classroom following a contribution of funding from the then DfEE under the Key Stage 2 Initiative.

2.2 To adhere to the spend profile requirements of Sure Start and the DfES for key elements of the project which must be complete by the end of the next financial year.

2.3 Brazier Construction have combined successfully with in-house teams on two previous partnering projects and have recently successfully completed a scheme at Whiteley, which is of a similar design.
