1. The Chairman has asked that following the last meeting of the Committee a timetable of future activity be drawn up and set out as listed in the schedule attached. The timetable includes those items involving Leader key-decisions which this Committee has asked to comment upon before the key-decisions are made. It is proposed to update the timetable for each meeting. Set out below in the normal way are the key-decisions which may be made by the Leader on behalf of the County Council over the next four month period.
2. As indicated in the Constitution at Part 3: D Para 1.9 any Member can give notice to the Chief Executive that they wish a relevant item to be placed on the Agenda for the next Committee. The following process is recommended. On receipt of such a request, provided sufficient notice is given, the Chief Executive will incorporate the issue as a line item on the Agenda. Otherwise, the request will be raised verbally at the meeting. The Committee will at the meeting discuss whether or not the item should be subject to a full report from the appropriate Chief Officers. This gatekeeping process is suggested in order to avoid Chief Officers expending resources, compiling reports at the request of one Member which the Policy Review Committee itself does not consider necessary to discuss. Any reports requested will be presented to a future meeting of the Committee on a date to be agreed.
3. The Committee's attention is drawn to waste strategy items in the Forward Plan. Hitherto these were shown as Leader's decisions. However, with the Leader's agreement, the Executive Member for Environment considered the Interim Waste Recycling Centre and Interim Municipal Waste Management Strategies on 12 March 2002. Likewise, the key-decision on Project Integra Board Business Plan is due to be made by the Executive Member for Environment in due course. Waste is specifically included in his portfolio in the Constitution. The Interim Joint Municipal Waste Management Strategy has been called in and was considered on 4 April by the Environment Policy Review Committee.
4. The key-decisions which may be made by the Leader for the period April - July 2002 are set out below. Those items which the Committee have asked to comment upon are marked with asterisks and are listed within the enclosed timetable.

That the report and timetable be noted.
