Introduction | |

Attached for the Committee's approval is an updated draft version of the Corporate Plan. It incorporates the Best Value Performance Plan for 2002/03 which the Authority is required to publish by 30 June 2002. | |

Members will recall that it is proposed to make the Plan a `dynamic' document which, by publishing it on our website www.hantsfire.gov.uk can be frequently updated with the latest performance management data and information. At the meeting, Members will have the opportunity to see a demonstration of the website version. | |

At its meeting on 31 October 2001, the Committee received a presentation on a model that usefully describes and supports the Authority's strategic planning process and performance management framework. It will be noted that the model has been used to structure the format of the Corporate Plan. More importantly, by using the model as the navigation tool on the website version, it acts as a constant reminder (particularly to our own staff) of the interrelationship between the various activities/stages in the strategic planning and performance management process. | |

The use of the website in this way fits well with the principles of "e-government"; and, from experience gained over the last three years, is likely to be a more cost-effective method of publishing the Plan than distributing large numbers of a glossy printed version which quickly becomes out of date. | |

The opportunity will be taken over the coming months to illustrate the website version with appropriate photographs and provide active links to the supporting (or related) information elsewhere on the website. | |

All libraries and public information points will be given a poster and information on how the public can access the Plan and how to request a printed version of the component documents. | |
