AT A MEETING of the JOINT SERVICES FOR YOUTH BEST VALUE PANEL of the COUNTY COUNCIL held at The Castle, Winchester on Tuesday, 2 July 2002.

5. MINUTES

The Minutes of the meeting of the Panel held on 9 October 2001 were confirmed as a correct record and signed by the Chairman.

6. BEST VALUE INSPECTORATE

Charlotte Smith (District Audit) and Bridget Downton (Inspection Service) from the Best Value Inspectorate gave a presentation on the findings of their mid review on the best value review on services for young people. They had looked at the review process and outlined issues that would benefit from some additional work. They stressed that it was important to highlight that services for young people were an important issue and that partnership working was a key role. They would be producing a short report on the matters mentioned.

RESOLVED:

That Charlotte Smith and Bridget Downton be thanked for their presentation and their assistance with the review process and a copy of their report be appended to the outcome report.

7. OPTIONS REPORT

The Chief Executive and County Education Officer presented a report reviewing the services for youth across the County Council Departments recommending the development of an improvement plan to implement the approved option.

RESOLVED:

That the officers develop an improvement plan to implement option 2 - Hampshire County Council cross departmental "Youth Strategy" is developed which indicates how Hampshire County Council departments will work individually, together and through active partnerships with other service providers - for consideration at the next meeting of the Panel.

8. DATE OF NEXT MEETING

RESOLVED:

That the next meeting of the Panel be held at 2.00 p.m. on Wednesday, 2 October 2002.
