1. Summary

1.1 The following decision is sought:

That the Hampshire district councils be informed that there is no need to release any of the reserve provision of Policy H4 of the Hampshire County Structure Plan (Review) this year, but the possible need remains to release some provision in future years. In the meantime the district councils should continue to make provision for housing in accordance with the Policies of the County Structure Plan (Review).

2. Reason

2.1 The Monitoring Paper published for consultation in April 2002 has concluded that there is no case this year for triggering the release of any of the reserve provision. However, the situation should be considered again when better information is available in next year's edition. In the meantime, various actions are needed by Hampshire local planning authorities to ensure an adequate supply of housing land is provided.

2.2 The decision reflects the recommendations to the Strategic Planning Joint Advisory Panel on 25 June 2002. The report to that Panel is attached as an appendix.

3.1 To release some of the reserve provision this year.
