Following a pilot project which was carried out in Seafield, Gosport - a need was identified

to develop facilities for young women who at present have little or no youth provision

locally. The grant would be used to develop a club for young women from the ages of 12 - 19

years at Seafield Community House. Youth worker will support the project along with

volunteers to assist with activities such as arts and crafts, games, cooking, dance and music,

providing young women with skills and knowledge to enable them to enhance their social and

personal development skills.

Wickham youth club provides an environment where young people can experience a wide

range of new opportunities and challenging experiences, develop their personal and social

skills, explore attitudes on a variety of issues of concerns and be involved in decision making

on local issues. The building used for the youth club has deteriorated and is not satisfactory

for future use. The grant would assist to hire the services of a Chartered Architect to prepare

a feasibility study, for building a new youth centre, enabling the youth club to move

forward with its strategy for a purpose built youth centre to replace the existing temporary

                      PURPOSE: Amount Requested: £4,000

Lymington detached youth work project works closely with young people through detached

work, driving new initiatives, working with other agencies for the benefit of young people.

A recent needs assessment in the Pennington area highlighted a number of issues and

conerns in Pennington that the Lymington Detached Youth Work Project is ideally placed to

respond to. The grant would provide emergency support for the project pending approval of

long term funding bids and support salary costs to assist the project to move to the next

phase. The next phase aims to widen participation of young people in the project itself and

in the decision-making processes of their community.
