A STRATEGIC PLAN FOR THE HAMPSHIRE OUTDOOR SERVICE - 2002/03 TO 2004/05
1. The Hampshire Outdoor Service currently runs four directly managed outdoor centres at Calshot, Tile Barn (Brockenhurst), Beaulieu and in the Brecon Beacons in Wales. The centres are used by Hampshire schools, youth groups, adults and commercial organisations. In addition the Service grant aids eight charitable trusts in the County offering outdoor activity and educational facilities to Hampshire residents, together with the former County-owned centres now managed by Portsmouth and Southampton City Councils.
2. In order to guide development of the outdoor service in Hampshire and to direct and influence activity to deliver the County Council's corporate aims a strategic plan for the service to cover the period 2002/03 to 2004/05 has been adopted. The aim of the plan is to assist Members, staff and partner organisations to focus on the priorities for the service during the period and in the document particular attention was drawn to building on the very successful partnership with the Education Service. The importance of working more closely with young people was emphasised whilst also providing development training for business, commercial and public service customers and outdoor activities for the general population.
3. A copy of the strategic plan has been placed in the Members' Rooms.
