PART I

APPOINTMENT TO SEEDA/SEERA JOINT EUROPE COMMITTEE

1. The SEEDA/SEERA Joint Europe Committee (JEC) is being restructured to improve its effectiveness and to better reflect the European interests of the region. South East England House in Brussels is now working well as a co-located office of sub-regional partnerships with SEEDA/SEERA and SEEDA's regional European Strategy is being developed into an action plan to reflect priorities for the region. This action plan will be implemented jointly by the local authorities and other partners in the region and South East England House in Brussels.

2. The JEC will now be composed of

_ 4 representatives from SEEDA


_ 4 representatives from SEERA


_ 4 representatives (one each) from the four sub-regional partnerships represented in South East House.

3. This means the Hampshire/Isle of Wight/West Sussex partnership has to nominate one member. It has been agreed between the partners that this is taken in rotation and that Hampshire takes the first term. The member nominated will represent the partnership and will be supported by officers from all authorities in partnership.

4. The Executive Member for Policy and Resources has considered this and is proposing the Chairman, Councillor P.R.C. Hutcheson to take on this appointment.

RECOMMENDATION

That Councillor P.R.C. Hutcheson be appointed as the representative of the Hampshire/Isle of Wight/West Sussex partnership on the SEEDA/SEERA Joint Europe Committee.

CAPITAL STRATEGY AND ASSET MANAGEMENT PLAN

A report will be sent to Members under separate cover following consideration of this item by the Cabinet on 22 July 2002.
