AT A MEETING of an APPOINTMENT PANEL of the COUNTY COUNCIL held at The Castle, Winchester on 30 September 2002.

PRESENT:

Councillors: A.P. Collett; B.D. Dash; K.B. Estlin; J.K. Glen; P. Luffman; T.K. Thornber; M.J. Woodhall.

1. APPOINTMENT OF CHAIRMAN

RESOLVED:

That Councillor T. K. Thornber, CBE be appointed Chairman for the meeting.

2. EXCLUSION OF THE PRESS AND PUBLIC

RESOLVED:

That, by virtue of paragraph 1 of Part 1 of Schedule 12A of the Local Government Act 1972, the press and public be excluded from the meeting.

3. APPOINTMENT OF DEPUTY DIRECTOR OF ENVIRONMENT (STRATEGY AND RESOURCES)

Prior to commencement of the formal interviewing process, the Panel placed on record their great appreciation of the commitment, enthusiasm and loyalty shown by both candidates and their outstanding contribution to the work of the County Council in their present posts.


The Panel interviewed Mr D. E. Tarrant and Mr T. Greenwood.

RESOLVED:

That Mr D. E. Tarrant be appointed Deputy Director of Environment (Strategy and Resources).
