This review commenced in June 2001 with the agreed terms of reference to review |

The project team last met on 19 September 2002 and discussed the recommended options available. Agreement was reached on the points for inclusion in the final report. |
Additional research will be completed in relation to these options and the associated cost implications will form the basis of the final recommendations. A draft final report has been completed and circulated to the project team (30 September 2002). |
A number of amendments have been suggested and these will be incorporated into the report with the intention being to present the final report to the Best Value Committee Meeting on 11 December 2002. |

The review team had its third meeting on 11 September 2002. |
Presently in the research phase of the Review, a wide reaching consultation exercise is currently taking place. Centring around questionnaires and focus groups, 600 customer survey questionnaires, 75 agency questionnaires and 30 partnership questionnaires have been posted, whilst focus groups consulting technical fire safety staff, community fire safety staff and members of the public have been planned throughout the county and will run from mid September through to the end of the October 2002. It is still anticipated that the first draft of the report will be completed by early December 2002, with the final report in February 2003. |
