1. Applications have been received from young people in Hampshire undertaking expeditions, overseas projects, personal development, etc. in accordance with the following details:-

1.1. Susie Parratt, Winchester

Susie has just finished her A Levels at college and is taking a GAP year before returning to do a nursing degree next year.

In February next year, Susie will be travelling to Paraguay to spend five months working in an orphanage where she will be teaching and looking after the children's well being. Total cost: £2,500.

1.2. Laura Nichols, Chandlers Ford

Laura belongs to the 1^st Chandlers Ford Rangers and through this has been selected to attend the Bundarra Under the Southern Skies at Easter next year. This jamboree is to be held in Tara, Australia and is centred on five main themes: friendship, fun, adventure, creation and achievement. She will spend the first week with an Australian family and the second week at the camp with the other guides and rangers. Total cost: £1,500.

1.3. James Gasson, Fair Oak

James, 20, has been selected to participate in a Trekforce Expedition to Borneo to undertake conservation work between January and March next year. He will take part in various science, conservation and community projects as requested by the local authorities.


Total cost: £3,400. James has raised £340 so far and has also applied to Eastleigh Carnival Committee and the Prince's Trust.

Recommendation: £150
