Intelligent Transport Systems Programme - Basingstoke

Extend the Basingstoke town centre car park monitoring and information system to include the new Festival Place car park, with additional signs at:

· Alencon Link approach to Victory roundabout

· Churchill Way approach to Victory roundabout;

· Timberlake Road approach to Victory roundabout;

· Churchill Way approach to Eastrop roundabout;

· Timberlake Road adjacent to the access to the Festival Place south ramp

Extend the present CCTV coverage to include:

· M3 junction 5 (subject to HA funding);

· Blackdam roundabout (subject to HA funding);

· A33/A339 Reading Road roundabout;

· A33 Reading Road/Popley Way.

Install a bus departure information system for the Basingstoke bus station funded from the Festival Place redevelopment, and install real time passenger information at a number of bus stops in association with the Route 1 Quality Bus Partnership.

In terms of traffic signals and pedestrian crossings, the following are planned;

· Two toucan crossings, one on Harrow Way near the Golden Lion roundabout, and one on Hatch Warren Lane;

· Puffin crossing in Brighton Way;

· A33/A339 Reading Road roundabout (note CCTV above provided as part of this scheme) - now more likely to be 2003/04;

· A33 Reading Road/Popley Way (note CCTV above provided as part of this scheme) - now more likely to be 2003/04.

· There is a pedestrian stage planned for the traffic signals at Essex Road/Worting Road, but this is planned for 2003/04.
