Building a replacement for John Hunt of Everest School at North Popley, Basingstoke

1. Summary

1.1 The following decision is sought:

Approval be given to the publication of Statutory Notices to effect the relocation of John Hunt of Everest School to a new site at North Popley.

Authorisation be given to the County Education Officer to publish the Statutory Notices when the financial strategy has been secured.

2. Reason

2.1 To progress to the next stage in planning for replacing the existing school on a new site some half a mile away from the present site.

2.2 This next stage - the publishing of Public Notices - follows the completion of the consultations agreed by the Executive Member for Education on 6 September 2002. A report on these consultations is given in Appendix 1.

3. Other options considered and rejected

3.1 Not replacing the new school but refurbishing the existing school building.
