Members Attending Conferences and Meetings of Outside Bodies

Report of the Clerk

The approval of the Authority is requested for the attendance of the following Members at conferences and meetings of outside bodies:-

(a) Police Excellence in Performance 2002 - 17/18 September

To approve the attendance of Mr R Gully at the Police Excellence in Performance 2002 Conference held in Warwick on 17/18 September.

(b) Working Together for a Better Future - 14 October

To approve the attendance of Councillor J Fazackarley at the Working Together for a Better Future Conference held at the Guildhall, Winchester on 14 October.

(c) National Competency Framework Briefing - 15 October

To approve the attendance of Mrs R Atkinson, Councillor S Hayes, and Mr G M King JP at an APA briefing on the National Competency Framework held in London on 15 October.

(d) Narrowing the Justice Gap/Persistent Offender Roadshow - 17 October

To approve the attendance of Mrs J Griffin JP at the Criminal Justice Service "Narrowing the Justice Gap/Persistent Offender" Roadshow held in London on 17 October. A report by Mrs Griffin on her attendance at this event is attached at Appendix A.

(e) Police Pay and Conditions Briefing - 13 November

To approve the attendance of Mrs R Atkinson and Mr G M King JP at an APA briefing session on the Police Negotiating Board Agreement on Police Pay and Conditions to be held in London on 13 November.

(f) British Association of Women Police Officers

A report by Mrs. C. Barratt on her attendance at the British Association of Women Police Professional Development Day held in Chester on 7 and 8 October, 2002 is attached at Appendix B.

RECOMMENDATION:

(a) That the attendance of Members at the events indicated in the report be approved.

(b) That the report of Mrs J Griffin JP on her attendance at the event set out at (d) above, be noted.

(c) That the report of Mrs. C. Barratt on her attendance at the event set out at (f) above, be noted.
