DESIGN PROJECT APPRAISALS

1. The Executive Member for Education has agreed design project appraisals for a total of five capital building schemes, three of them at primary schools and two at secondary schools.

2. At Buriton Primary School, near Petersfield, approval has been given to the construction of additional teaching accommodation and the removal of a temporary building. The works will also incorporate adaptations to provide a library, music/drama room and resource area, which the school at present lacks. The scheme when completed will mean that all the school's accommodation will be housed in a single, permanent building. At Hook Junior School and at Lymington Junior School, approval has been given to the construction of two additional classrooms in each case. Both schools will therefore benefit from additional purpose-built teaching accommodation.

3. At Yateley Community School, approval has been given to the construction of an extension to house a purpose-designed dance studio for teaching and performances. At Kings' School, Winchester approval has been given to the construction of a new music and drama room extension which is being funded by the school's delegated budgets. In both cases, the developments will enable the schools to make more effective provision for the arts.
