1. Summary

1.1 The following decision is sought:

That the attached draft Hamble Area Transport Strategy be published for consultation purposes.

2. Reason

2.1 The strategy has been developed by officers of Hampshire County Council and Eastleigh Borough Council in recognition of growing transport problems and current national policies. The draft strategy was endorsed by the South West Hampshire Transportation Strategy Members' Panel on 24 October 2002.

2.2 The draft strategy takes into account local views arising from public consultation and the initial proposals outlined cover all modes of transport, allow for a reasonable level of car access, greater travel choices and an improved environment. Further comments from key stakeholders and interested parties will be considered in the preparation of the final Hamble Area Transport Strategy document.
