Scope of the Works |
2.1 |
The existing school buildings comprise a single storey block to the east connected via a link to a two storey block to the west. The link accommodates the main entrance to the school along with the administration office, Head teacher's office, staff room and stores. It is proposed to construct two single storey extensions to the northern and southern elevations of the link. |
2.2 |
The extension to the north will provide one new classroom with a wet area and two stores and a staff room. The extension to the south will provide a new main entrance with reception, administration office, Head teacher's office and Medical Inspection room. The link area between the two new extensions will be reconfigured to enable the creation of a new school library and a link corridor to the new and existing accommodation. |
2.3 |
The extensions will be constructed of rendered masonry walls with aluminium framed windows. Sun louvers will be erected on the southern elevation of the extension to provide sun shading to this accommodation. Two new areas of hard paving will be created adjacent to the two new extensions. The southern paved area will form part of the new main entrance and along with low level planting, will enhance the approach to the school. The northern paved area will have direct access from the new classroom and can be used as an outside learning area for pupils. |
