1. Summary

1.1 This report makes recommendations in respect of two applications for funding from Gosport and Winchester, which are subject to approval by the Executive Member for Community Development and Regeneration.

2. Background

2.1 This report recommends that the Executive Member for Community Development and Regeneration approve an allocation of £2,500 as a contribution to assist the production and distribution of the Gosport Community Strategy public summary and for the next Gosport Partnership Forum and to approve an allocation of £3,000 as a contribution to secure the extension of the Homecheck Scheme for this financial year for the Winchester and District Working Together Partnership.

2.2 A budget for supporting projects derived from the County Council's statutory duty to prepare a community strategy has been set up and this includes a budget of £200,000 for pump priming the Local Strategic Partnerships (LSP's) and to develop further community strategies.

2.3 Each of the 11 LSP's are encouraged to bid for money from this budget to support the development of their LSPs and for the pump priming of projects.

2.4 The budget is also available for the development and implementation of the Hampshire Strategic Partnership.

2.5 The Chief Executive can approve amounts of less than £2000. The Executive Member for Community Development and Regeneration can approve amounts between £2000 and £5000. Amounts exceeding £5000 must be approved by the Executive Member and referred, with a recommendation to the Leader for decision.

3. Current bids

3.1 A bid, in the sum of £2,500, has been received from the Gosport Partnership to assist the production and distribution of the community strategy public summary to be distributed to all Gosport residents and for the next Gosport Partnership Forum. This relates to the previous bid as agreed on the 10^th January.

3.2 A bid, in the sum of £3,000, has been received from Winchester and District Working Together Partnership to secure the extension of the Homecheck Scheme for this financial year.

3.3 These are appropriate projects for support under this budget and the County Council has been closely involved in its development. As these bids are above £2,000 it is for decision by the Executive Member.

Recommendations

1. To agree an allocation of £2,500, as a contribution to assist with the production and distribution of the Gosport Community Strategy public summary and a contribution to the next Gosport Partnership Forum.

2. To agree an allocation of £3,000 as a contribution to secure the extension of the Homecheck Scheme for this financial year for Winchester and District Working Together Partnership.
