PART II

THE EAST HAMPSHIRE CONSORTIUM COMMUNITY RESOURCES PROJECT

1. The East Hampshire Consortium Community Resources Project was established in East Hampshire using funding obtained from the Home Office Active Community Unit. It has proved to be innovative being the only one of its kind in the country that has developed from a consortium of community organisations working together and has provided resources for the voluntary and community sector throughout the area and has nine members comprising six community associations, Kingsley Village Centre, Petersfield Community Association and Voluntary Action for East Hampshire.

2. The objectives of the original project were, inter alia, to provide information, advice, access to information and communications technology, equipment and community services for local groups, to link each resource centre by means of broad band ICT and to provide support and development through training and capacity building with a view to ensuring equity of resources and skills across the district.

3. To develop the project further the consortium needs personnel support in the form of a development worker who would be employed for three days a week on taking forward a development project; an advisory group consisting of the officer and consortium members would be established to manage the project.

4. The Executive Member has approved the allocation of £74,700 to the project over the next three years from the Neighbourhood Initiatives Fund and this funding will allow a development worker to be employed.
