ALLOCATION OF FUNDING IN THE RECREATION AND HERITAGE FIELD

1. The County Recreation and Heritage Department works in partnership with community associations who seek to enable local people to meet the recreational, educational, social, cultural and environmental needs of their local communities and grants towards the annual revenue costs of two such associations (at Portchester and Headley Down) have been approved totalling £8,000. The County Council is also empowered to contribute by way of grant or loan towards expenses incurred by voluntary bodies in providing community facilities and £20,000 has been awarded to six different schemes with two being in the Basingstoke area, two in East Hampshire and one each in Winchester and Hart areas.

2. From the partnership funding to voluntary bodies and other organisations heading a grant of £5,000 has been allocated to the Hampshire Rugby Football Union for Women to support their application to establish and develop the organisation and approximately £17,000 has been awarded from the Arts Development Partnership funding heading to festivals, concerts and ongoing projects. Three of these grants have been awarded as part of the two for one award scheme which fosters a positive relationship between business and the arts by matching new sponsorships valued between £200 and £500.
