REPORT OF THE

STANDARDS COMMITTEE

PART II

THE COUNTY COUNCIL'S CONSTITUTION

1. The Constitution published when the County Council adopted its current Leader and Cabinet style of governance has been the subject of various amendments and updates. The copy of the Constitution on the County Council's website is up to date, but the bound, printed version needs to be consolidated to include all the changes.

2. The Committee has reviewed and approved a loose-leaf version of the Constitution which contains all amendments approved up to now. This format makes it more efficient and straightforward for any future amendments to be incorporated. Copies have been placed in the Members' rooms.

3. The Committee has therefore agreed to the production of the loose-leaf version of the Constitution to be published and distributed to Officers and Members. However, in the interests of sustainability and e-government, they have agreed that it should be promulgated to Members by sending them an e-mail alert in the first instance, which will give them the option either to view the Constitution on the website or to ask for and collect a hard copy if they want one.
